Description

The poem follows the rigid rhyme scheme of the rondeau, with the opening couplet repeated at the end and the first line also returning to form the fourth. My setting uses an exact repetition of rhythm but not pitch for these lines, and it is a characteristic feature of the piece that rhyming lines share similar pitch materials.
