    Vocal Teacher

    Nathan Bryon
    Nathan Bryon

Nathan thoroughly enjoys teaching singers of all ages and stages, and in all styles of music. He is committed to creating a positive, open space for students to explore and achieve their full vocal potential. Whether you’re looking to learn some secure vocal technique, hone a particular style, feel more confident in choir, or work your way through an exam syllabus’ (AMEB/ABRSM), Nathan has vast knowledge, skills, and experience to help you get where you want to be.

Teaching singing is much more than just scales and songs! It’s about giving students the tools, tricks, and confidence to achieve their goals with their own unique talent. Nathans approach starts with the very basics of good singing - posture, aural training, understanding of the articulators and diction, and finding the method of support that works for you. Once these foundational aspects have been covered we can work toward really kicking some goals with your singing!

    Course Set-Up:

A 30 minute lesson will generally be structured like so:

10 minutes: Warm up and technical work focussed on getting your voice ready for a great lesson!

15 minutes: Detailed work on songs and repertoire, or more technical work if needed.

5 minutes: Warm down and chat about what to work on for next week. This structure is a rough outline only, as each lesson is tailored to the goals and needs of each student.

    Lei Dai

Lei is a warm, patient, and energetic voice and piano teacher, always keen to assimilate new ideas to consummate her teaching perspectives. Being dedicated to music education for years, Lei has been adept in finding students’ learning desire and designing the particular methods for individuals.

Lei has been attending a variety of performances and festivals. She encourages and helps her students to participate in music programs and competitions.

    Voice teaching:

Apart from the systematic study in both Western classical voice and Chinese traditional singing techniques, Lei has absorbed a wide range of music styles through a highly self-motivated way; thus she believes enjoying what we are doing right now is just as important as learning and fuses different music genres into teaching. Students are not only learning techniques but also gaining artistic sensitivity in performing music.

    Piano teaching:

Excellent piano skills require careful scaffolding; therefore, Lei would ensure students are capable of relating learnt skills to new technique and theories. Piano students in her class are encouraged to sing the melody and play with rhythmic games as Lei believes that solid fundamental skills will ensure the future positive development.
