Zachary Connor

Zachary – Cello Teacher
Zachary is a passionate and talented cellist who brings energy, creativity, and care to every lesson he teaches. Born in Canberra, he began learning the cello at just eight years old and quickly discovered his lifelong love for music. He went on to study for 12 years under the world-renowned cellist David Pereira, developing both exceptional skill and a deep understanding of the instrument.
Over the years, Zachary has achieved many remarkable milestones. He served as Principal Cellist of the Canberra Youth Orchestra (CYO) and the Canberra Symphony Youth Chamber Orchestra (CSYCO), and in 2024, he proudly became the youngest member of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. He also earned a reserve position in the Kingsland Fellowship Program, which supports outstanding young Australian musicians.
Beyond orchestral music, Zachary is an active soloist and composer. He has written and performed three original works for chamber ensembles, including A Suite from the Afterlife and Martyr, both originally composed for film and stage. His own piece Afterlife was even performed with him as a soloist in front of CSYCO.
Zachary was also a Finalist in the Musica Viva “Strike a Chord” National Chamber Music Competition (2022) and has created and performed in four well-received recital series, showcasing his artistry through both classical masterpieces and his own compositions.
Now based in Sydney, Zachary loves sharing his experience and enthusiasm with the next generation of musicians. His lessons are friendly, supportive, and tailored to each student’s individual needs — helping them build strong technique, confidence, and a genuine love for the cello and music-making.
