Thomas Mak

With decades of experience as a passionate cellist, Thomas Mak brings both expertise and enthusiasm to his teaching. After studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under renowned mentors, he developed a deep understanding of the instrument, excelling both as a performer and an educator.

Thomas specializes in guiding students through their first steps in learning the cello and helping students refine their technique and musicality. His patient and structured approach ensures that students not only develop strong technical foundations but also enjoy the process of making music.

Musical Journey & Training

·         His cello studies began at age 12 under the Principal Cellist of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra

·         Studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, receiving mentorship from the Principal Cellist of the Australian Chamber Orchestra

·         Performed in the Sydney Youth Orchestra and Sydney School Ensemble.

Passion for Music & Teaching

Beyond formal training, Thomas remains deeply involved in music, learning and practicing new repertoire daily across diverse genres—from modern pop to opera.
