Emma Fraser — Cello Teacher

Emma Fraser is a passionate and enthusiastic cello teacher dedicated to helping students develop secure technique, musical confidence and a genuine appreciation of music. Drawing on more than 12 years of cello and piano experience, she creates enjoyable lessons tailored to each student’s level, learning style and individual goals.

Emma holds AMusA with Distinction in both Cello Performance and Piano Performance. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium High School, she developed extensive technical and musical expertise and ranked First in both Music 2 and Music Extension during her HSC studies, receiving HSC Encore nominations.

As a versatile performer, Emma has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader at the Sydney Opera House, Government House, Sydney Town Hall and Verbrugghen Hall. She remains active in orchestras, live shows and studio recording, including providing instrumental support for a solo artist. This continuing professional practice brings fresh musical insight, ensemble awareness and practical stage experience to her teaching.

Emma creates a positive, encouraging and enjoyable learning environment in which students feel comfortable exploring new challenges. Through patience and support, she builds strong rapport and adapts her teaching to each student’s needs. Her lessons balance the careful development of posture, tone, intonation and technique with expressive musicianship and performance confidence. Students are encouraged to listen carefully, understand how each technical choice shapes the sound and develop effective, independent practice habits.

Whether guiding a beginner through their first notes or helping an advancing student refine their playing, Emma aims to make every lesson purposeful and rewarding while nurturing a lifelong love of music.
